At MAXQ Analytics we believe that sharing the topline revenue directly with the engineers aligns well with the characteristics of knowledge based project-work. We prefer to work with independent engineers that commit themselves to 1-5 clients and will operate autonomously while adhering to our frameworks. This approach allows us to effectively execute on complex data projects that are usually too large to be effectively executed by a single data engineer. ## Hourly Rates In general, we charge standard hourly rates for the work that we provide. The Hourly rates are dependant on the seniority of each engineer, with the rates of 2025 being: 1. Junior Engineer: 80 EUR p. hour 2. Medior Engineer: 120 EUR p. hour 3. Senior Engineer: 180 EUR p. hour 4. Architect: 270 EUR p. hour Between each seniority level we apply a +50% calculation, rounded down to 5 EUR increments. ## Revenue Share We apply an 80/20 rule when sharing the revenue between the company and the engineer. The 80% goes to the engineer and the 20% goes to the company to compensate for account management, software licences, administration, legal advice, lead generation, business development, partner development, product development, financial liabilities and reputation risk. The 80% revenue share is earned in the 5th full time year. Each Junior Engineer starts off with 60% in their first year, which grows with +5% annual increments. We apply this logic to allow juniors to compensate the company for the wealth of knowledge and experience it provides them. | **Years of Experience** | **Role** | **Hourly Rate** | **Rev-share** | **Compensation** | | ----------------------- | -------------------- | --------------: | ------------: | ---------------: | | 1 year | Junior Data Engineer | 80 EUR | 60% | 48 EUR | | 2 years | Junior Data Engineer | 80 EUR | 65% | 52 EUR | | 3 years | Junior Data Engineer | 80 EUR | 70% | 56 EUR | | 4 years | Medior Data Engineer | 120 EUR | 75% | 90 EUR | | 5 years | Medior Data Engineer | 120 EUR | 80% | 96 EUR | | 6 years | Medior Data Engineer | 120 EUR | 80% | 96 EUR | ## Discounts Whenever we agree on giving discounts to our clients on our hourly rates the discounts are translated one-on-one to the engineer and their compensation. In the calculation example we have agreed on a 10 EUR per hour discount. **Adjusted hourly rate** Hourly Rate = €120 - €10 = €110 per hour **Adjusted compensation** Engineer Compensation = €110 * 0.8 = €88 ## Compensation growth In the example below, we describe a 2nd year junior data engineer from Germany that joins our company and grows into the role of senior data engineer, taking into account the price changes as defined by our [[Financial Policy]]: | **Year** | **Role** | **Hourly Rate** | **Comments** | **Rev-share** | **Compensation** | | -------- | -------------------- | --------------- | ------------------- | ------------- | ---------------- | | 2025 | Junior Data Engineer | 80 EUR | 1 year experience | 65% | 48 EUR | | 2026 | Junior Data Engineer | 85 EUR | | 70% | 55 EUR | | 2027 | Junior Data Engineer | 85 EUR | | 75% | 60 EUR | | 2028 | Medior Data Engineer | 130 EUR | Promotion to Medior | 80% | 98 EUR | | 2029 | Medior Data Engineer | 135 EUR | | 80% | 108 EUR | | 2030 | Medior Data Engineer | 140 EUR | | 80% | 112 EUR | | 2031 | Medior Data Engineer | 145 EUR | | 80% | 116 EUR | | 2032 | Senior Data Engineer | 225 EUR | Promotion to Senior | 80% | 180 EUR | ## Annual compensation Let's stay with the junior data engineer from the above income growth example: - **Role:** Junior Data Engineer - **Years experience:** 1 year - **Country**: Germany - **Standard Hourly rate:** €80/hour - **Revenue Share:** 60% - **Hourly compensation:** €48/hour - **Average hours worked per month:** 110 - **Duration:** 12 months <br> On a monthly and annual basis this comes down to: **Monthly Gross Income** Monthly Hours × Hourly Rate = 110 × €48 = €5,280 **Annual Gross Income** Monthly Gross Income × 12 = €5,280 × 12 = €63,360 These are the top line receivables for an engineer, not taking into account any deductions, expenses or taxes.
